Oh baby, baby!! I finally got a chance to sit down and put together my list of ultimate baby essentials for Moms-On-The-Go. Three years and two kids later, I feel as though I can finally offer a little advice as to what is helpful for new moms to have (and what might be a waste). This list is extra applicable for all my farm, ranch and rodeo moms who are constantly on-the-go, and aren’t going to let a new babe slow them down. This is also a great resource to use if you’re shopping for someone special and their registry has already been picked through!
I’ve broken this up into different categories, and included items from the newborn stage, all through the first year. Some pieces come with some explanation, and others make sense without it!
Bob Jogging Stroller
Britax B-Safe Infant Car Seat
Britax Car Seat/Bob Stroller Attachment (this is a need for the first 2-3 months, when an infant doesn’t have enough head/neck control to sit in a stroller unless they’re in a car seat)
Bob Jogger Cup Holder Attachment (for Mom)
Bob Jogger Cup Holder Attachment (for kids)
Graco 4Ever Car Seat (we love that this seat transitions them out of an infant seat, and stays with them all the way until they’re out of a booster seat.)
Land’s End Catchall (This is my go-to gift for new babes. I love that you can personalize these with a name, which also makes them great when they have siblings, or go to daycare!)
Swaddles (Swaddle blankets are the perfect size to be used for just about anything–burp cloths, sun barriers, stroller blanket, floor pad, etc. It’s so convenient to be able to grab one and know you can use it for just about anything that the day brings, and not worry if you’re going to ruin it)
Footie Pj’s WITH Zippers (if you have a choice, always go with a zipper instead of snaps. They’re much more convenient, especially in the middle of the night or on the go!)
BabyBum Diaper Cream Applicator (This seems frivolous, but trust me. Diaper cream is super sticky, and it’s hard to get a babe back in their clothes with that junk all over your hands. This helps take the mess out of diaper changing)
Diaper Bag Changing Pad (this is perfect for throwing in your diaper bag!)
Critic Aid Moisture Barrier
Diaper Genie
Nighttime Diapers (These are an absolute godsend for anyone whose kiddo wakes up in the middle of the night with a wet diaper. The rule of thumb is to buy them one size larger than what your babe is currently wearing. If your babe wears a size 2 in daytime diapers, then you’d want to buy a size 3 in nighttime diapers!)
4Moms Mamaroo
DockATot
Snuggle Me Organic Lounger
Tiny Steps Activity Walker and Walk Behind
LovEvery Play Mat
Halo Sleep Sacks
Love to Dream Zipper Sleep Sack
Baby Delight Bassinet (this was really handy for me, especially as a c-section Mom. Not having to bend over to pick up a babe in the middle of the night made life SO much easier!)
Summer Baby Pixel Zoom Monitor
Owlet Smart Sock & Video Monitor (*this is not something we had because it requires WiFi; however, if we did have WiFi, this would have been a must for us!)
Boon Grass Bottle Dryer
VAVA Baby Nightlight
Phillips Avent Bottles (Both of our kids LOVED these bottles. I definitely recommend getting the larger size bottle–not the small one. Yes, initially they’re only drinking 1-2oz, but in a few months, they’ll be drinking 6 oz and you can’t use the little 4oz bottles anymore. Just make sure you buy the nipple top, linked below, that corresponds with their age!)
Phillips Avent Nipples
Ikea High Chair
Contigo Straw Cups
Pouch Squeezy
Wubanubb Pacifiers (these work great because the stuffed animal providers a little weight, so they can’t spit them out as easily. It also helps them be easier for a kiddo to reach for and put back in themselves).
Shopping Cart Pad
Wellements Newborn Bundle (we LOVE Wellements products. If you’re a first-timer, you can use JESSIE15 for 15% off your order!)
Indy Carryall Diaper Bag from Western and Co
Now I’m going to offer my two biggest pieces of advice to anyone who might be using this list to gift to a mom-to-be. These are things I didn’t realize or understand until after I had kids, and hopefully they’re helpful to you, too!
I will add to/edit this list as I find new must-have products that our family couldn’t live without! If you’re a mom-on-the-go and have a favorite product that I missed, make sure to drop it in the comment section below!
