They say great minds think alike and they’re not lying! Ninety percent of the time the questions I receive revolve around the same few topics, so I wanted to provide a place where those answers are easy for everyone to access!
What type of degree do you have?
I have a Bachelor’s Degree in Business Management, with a minor in Accounting. While I don’t have a formal degree in either, journalism and marketing are two areas that I’ve always had a knack for, even prior to college. I started my professional career in the role of a Communications Director, which put those two interests together into a single position. That job really helped me figure out what areas I enjoy in life, and I haven’t left that arena since!
What type of dog is Rio?
Rio is a Shetland Sheepdog, more commonly known as a Sheltie.
How many cattle or acres do you own?
I get this question a lot; and while I won’t answer it, I will tell you why that is. In the West, most people who farm or ranch do so as their sole source of income; so asking one of those questions is as personal as asking someone how much money they make or who they vote for.
Have you and your husband always been ranchers?
Yes, we have. Together, Justin and I come from eight generations worth of Idaho ranchers. In 2015, Justin’s family ranch celebrated their 100th year in business. My grandparents purchased the ranch we live on now in 1943.
Will you share your Mother-in-Law’s homemade sour cream recipe?
Yes! Chances are if you’ve been around here for a while you know that I don’t follow recipes very well, so use the following as more of a guideline than an exact science.
1 jar of Mayo (yes, a regular-sized jar of Mayo)
½ c Apple Cider Vinegar
1.5 T Garlic Powder
Stir all ingredients together, and then put it in the fridge to let it set up. If it’s too potent or runny, add more mayo. If there’s not enough flavor, add garlic powder. If it’s not thin enough, add some apple cider vinegar.
Where did you get your custom brand necklace made?
My custom brand necklace is from Rawhide and Roses. The little turquoise piece I wear alongside it is from Kershner Custom Silver; however, Rawhide and Roses also has a selection of turquoise pieces to add to those as well.
Where is your turquoise wedding ring stacker from?
It’s from Cholla’s Turquoise!
Who made your Type 1 Diabetic medical alert bracelet?
That was custom made by The Classy Trailer. I wear it every day and I can honestly say it is one of the best purchases I have ever made!
What type of hair extensions do you use?
I’ve used quite possibly every extension method under the sun. Now that I don’t live close to town, I really like extension methods that don’t require an appointment to move them up. Right now I have a set of clip-in extensions from Barefoot Blonde, and a set of halo-style extensions from Zala (20”). These are by far two of the best brands I’ve worn, and I feel very comfortable recommending them. The color I have from Barefoot Blonde is Beige Blonde, and the Zala color I wear is Beachy Blonde.
Where did you get the sign in your office?
The GW McLintock quote I have in my office is from The Painted Nest. If you use the code JWAYNE you can save yourself a bit of money! The quote itself says, “Everybody works for somebody. I work for everybody in these United States that steps into a butcher shop for a T-Bone Steak.”
Who made Jhett’s crib?
I designed Jhett’s crib and asked a close family friend to build it for us. Unfortunately, she doesn’t build things outside of our local area.
What color are your walls?
The color is called Stone Harbor and it’s a Sherwin Williams paint color.
Who made Jhett’s rocking horse?
This too was made by a close family friend (surprisingly not the same one who made his crib). They’ve considered building them for the public, but don’t currently do so. If they ever change their minds, I will be the first to share their business with you all!
