I’m so excited to bring you guys not one, not two, but THREE, fresh new denim short styles today! Denim shorts are a summer necessity, but most of us know they can be difficult to find. They always seem to be too tight, to lose, too short, or too long—even I struggle with finding a solid pair that checks all the boxes. I’ve spent quite a bit of time searching the internet for the perfect shorts to share, and I think I’ve found a few winners! Introducing, the Victoria Cuffed Denim Short by BKE!

IMPRESSION

Of the three BKE short styles that I’m bringing you today, the Victoria Cuffed Denim Short is by far my favorite and are currently the highest-rated denim short on Denim Diary. 

For me, these are a big winner because of the fit, and length. These are a double cuff short, with each cuff giving an additional 2” on the inseam. I’m wearing these double-cuffed, which provides a 3.5” inseam. A single cuff provides a 5.5” inseam, and if worn completely uncuffed, these shorts have a 7” inseam. 

These are a dark wash short, with a really unique distressing. I don’t want to call it an acid wash, but it reminds me of that same, dark-light blend that acid wash pieces often have. There is some slight distressing on the left leg—enough to give off a distressed look, but not too much to where you have to worry about them getting larger with wear. 

The back pockets have a simple whisker design, and I think they’re really flattering. They don’t have any distressing, so one doesn’t have to worry about your phone falling out through the bottom. 

As far as the rise is concerned, these are a mid-rise piece. I would consider them to be a little higher than a normal mid-rise, which I actually really like because it can suck in my stomach without letting it all hang out down below! 

SIZING

I am a size 28, and occasionally I will size down to a 27. In the past, I almost always size down to a 27 in BKE brand denim. I have a 27 in these, and it is the perfect fit. These are a blend of 92% Cotton, 6% Polyester, 2% Lycra® Spandex, which gives them a body-conforming stretch. 

If you’re someone who is very true in sizing or occasionally sizes down, I would recommend that you size down one size from your normal jean size in these. I would recommend sticking to your normal jean size if you’re someone who tends to size up in pieces.
