A brand new website also means that Denim Diary is getting a reboot! If you’re new here and aren’t familiar with Denim Diary, its probably best explained as a denim journal entry, detailing everything from the fit, style, all the way down to the material and wash. Think of Denim Diary as a solid second opinion before pulling the trigger on a new pair of jeans, shorts, denim jacket, or dress.  Without further ado, let’s bring out the very first Denim Diary entry from 2019, featuring the Lola Soho Fade from Kimes Ranch!

IMPRESSION

When it comes to the shape of a denim flare, a trouser hemmed, bell flare is my absolute favorite type. That, combined with a fitted thigh, makes for a jean that gives off a very slimming effect. The rise on these is what I would consider being a mid-high rise, hitting me right below the belly button. 

The wash on these is a faded light blue color, with some faint whiskering below each front pocket. I like that the faded wash of these jeans isn’t your everyday denim color, making them really unique. The back pockets have a simple, gold-embroidered Kimes Ranch logo. 

I love that these jeans are very versatile, and can be worn for anything from riding to a night on the town.  

SIZING

I’m a size 6, and I wear a size 6 in these jeans, so I would recommend buying your true size. These jeans are a blend of 93% cotton, 6% polyester, 1% elastane, which gives them enough stretch to conform to your body’s movement but don’t stretch out to where you’re pulling them up all day. For those of you who starch your jeans, the denim blend of these is able to hold starch really well.

I wear a 34″ inseam in all jeans. Due to the bell flare, these jeans run longer than most. I own two different pair, one is a 32” inseam and a 34” inseam. In all of these photos, I’m wearing the 34″ inseam with 3.5″ wedges, and they still touch the ground. My 32” inseam jeans are perfect for wearing with boots. If you’re someone who will only wear flat or low heeled shoes, I would highly recommend sizing down one inseam from your normal length.

These come in waist sizes from 000-16, and inseams of 30”, 32”, 34” and 36”.
