Today we’re serving up our first-ever pair of men’s jeans, for women, here on Denim Diary—the Roger Jean from Kimes Ranch. As many of you can probably attest to, women wearing men’s jeans is becoming more of a common idea, especially for those of us who are looking for a tough, yet comfortable fitting work jean for farm, ranch, or arena life.
I’ve been wearing these jeans for about six months now, and have been pleasantly impressed with them! Ready to get to the nitty-gritty on the Roger Jean from Kimes Ranch? Let’s do it!
Style + Brand Name: Roger Jean from Kimes Ranch
Type: Men’s Bootcut
Rise: Men’s Low Rise (translates to a Women’s higher mid-rise)
Fit: Slim Fit
Rating: 8.5/10
I will admit, when it comes to wearing men’s jeans, I was a bit skeptical at first. I love the Kimes Ranch brand in general but have struggled a bit to find a pair of work jeans from the women’s line that’s not slim fitting and has my ideal rise. Originally, I heard great things about women wearing some of Kimes Ranch’s men’s styles, and when I stopped in at their Fort Worth store last fall, I was ready to try some on. I was recommended to try the Roger Jean, and I am clearly a fan.
As far as the rise is concerned, I would consider it to be right in between a mid and high rise. The waist of the Roger hits right at/below my belly button. I love that the leg has a relaxed, comfortable feel, but isn’t a true men’s “relaxed” jean that looks extra baggy and ill-fitting. They also come in a nice dark wash and have worn great.
Don’t skip this section! Since you’re looking at a pair of men’s jeans, you’re NOT going to wear your traditional size. I am traditionally a size 6/28. Occasionally I size down to a 4.
I have two pairs of Roger jeans. I went up two sizes, to a 30, in one pair. In my other pair, I went up three sizes, to a 31. If you’re someone who has a slimmer waist and more of a “boyish” figure, you’ll be safe going up two sizes. If you’re someone like me who carries weight in your stomach and wants a relaxed-fitting work jean, I’d recommend going up three sizes.
In both pairs, I went down one inseam size, to a 32 (I traditionally wear a 34″ inseam).
