I’m so excited to bring you guys not one, not two, but THREE, fresh new denim short styles today! Denim shorts are a summer necessity, but most of us know they can be difficult to find. They always seem to be too tight, to lose, too short, or too long—even I struggle with finding a solid pair that checks all the boxes. I’ve spent quite a bit of time searching the internet for the perfect shorts to share, and I think I’ve found a few winners! Introducing, the Payton Denim Short by BKE!

IMPRESSION

The wash on these Payton Denim Shorts by BKE is probably one of the best washes I’ve ever seen on a short. It’s that perfect mix of dark and light, giving off the vibe of an old school 100% denim piece. These are unhemmed, with a slight distressing on each leg. I really love the simplicity of the back pockets on these shorts. There isn’t any embroidering or whiskering, just a few small distressed areas. They don’t have any distressing, so one doesn’t have to worry about your phone falling out through the bottom. 

My only drawback on these is that I wish they were an inch longer. With a 2.5” inseam, they’re just a little too short for my “Mom-on-the-Go” self. That being said, I know I have some girls who really like that shorter length short; and I think these would be perfect if that’s your preference. I do think that a person could go up a size, and pull them down to where they’re more of a low rise, and gain a little leg length. 

The only reason I gave these a rating of 8/10 was due to the inseam. So if you do prefer the shorter length then the Payton Denim Short by BKE would definitely get a 10/10.

SIZING

I am a size 28, and occasionally I will size down to a 27. Historically, I almost always size down to a 27 in BKE brand denim. I have a 27 in these, but I wish I would have bought a 28 because they feel like a little bit snug in the waist.

These are a blend of 99% Cotton, 1% Lycra® Spandex, which doesn’t give them a ton of stretch, especially in the waist. 

If you’re someone who is very true in sizing or occasionally sizes down, I would recommend that you buy your normal jean size in these. I would recommend sizing up if you’re someone who tends to size up in pieces.
