That’s where The Business of Making comes in — an online course built for makers who wear all the hats.
Learn how to run, grow, and sustain your business so you can keep creating without burning out or going under.
I’ve followed Be A Maker School since its very first launch in 2021. From the start, I knew it was something special.
Nevada Watt had a vision: create a space where makers could build businesses outside of their craft, teach others the skills they’ve mastered, and open new income streams that strengthen entire families and communities.
And that’s exactly what BAMS has done.
When Nevada asked me to be part of The Business of Making, I’ll admit — I hesitated. I’m not a silversmith or a leather braider. But here’s the truth: we’re all makers in our own way.

I make connections.
I make introductions.
I make digital platforms, communities, and career opportunities.
And I know one thing for certain:
Without solid business practices, NONE of us get to keep making for very long.
That’s why I said yes to teaching inside this program.
And why I fully, proudly stand behind it.

Think about chefs and restaurants. Chefs can create extraordinary meals and unforgettable dining experiences — but how many chef-owned restaurants fail? The majority. Because creating food and running a profitable restaurant are two entirely different skill sets.
The same is true for makers. Nobody is going to hire you to build the business side for you — you have to do it yourself.
And without systems for pricing, marketing, order management, and revenue, even the most talented maker can end up treating their craft like a hobby instead of a livelihood.

I know how vital makers are — not only to their families, but also to the customers who rely on what they produce in order to do their own jobs.
Our industry is stronger when makers are profitable, sustainable, and equipped to keep creating for years to come.
But here’s the truth:

I have worked through the Business of Making course over the last year and can attest to the value it’s provided to my silversmithing business. Each module is filled with information that would take hours (and a lot of frustration) to research independently.

The very first time I uploaded inventory to my website & posted on social media I had pieces for sale and I sold out! I want to thank not only my instructor, but each Maker that has taken the time to answer questions & offer advice. This group & these classes are so amazing."

Whether you are starting from the fundamentals on up or jumping in with a head start, build confidence in your ability and end pieces.
We would not be doing what we are doing today if it were not for the online classes we took with BAMS. What was once a dream of ours is now a reality.
